Villa Yazlik is perfectly located in Kalkan if your dream holiday is relaxing by the pool or at one of Kalkan’s attractive beach clubs, enjoying the different water sports available, dining al fresco at the villa or at the many superb restaurants in town, people watching in the numerous bars, interspersed with a few enjoyable day trips. None of this requires a car.

Walking distance

The old town of Kalkan is 15 mins walk from the villa, and it is here you’ll find the majority of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, supermarkets, the small harbour and the beach. Indigo beach club is adjacent to the harbour, so is also walkable. The other beach clubs run their own free water taxi service from the harbour, except for Kalamar beach club, which provides a free taxi service that you can phone from the villa.

The Kalamar road is also 15 mins walk from the villa. There are numerous restaurants along this road as well as the odd bar, shops and spas.

Kalkan bus station

For day trips out, Kalkan bus station is 10 minutes walk from the villa, and bus fares are minimal. From here you can get a dolmus (minibus run by the Kalkan co-operative) for a minimal fare to:

• Patara beach (20 mins drive)

• Kaputas beach (10 mins drive)

• The small harbour town of Kas (30 mins drive)

• The larger harbour town of Fethiye (1 hour’s drive)

• Saklikent Gorge. The bus leaves once a day at around 10am and requires a minimum of four passengers. It returns at around 5pm but check this with the driver. Here’s a tip, if there are only two of you and time is running out pay for the other two fares – it’s not expensive. The drive takes an hour and there is a stop half way where you can either have some refreshments in the small café or visit the ancient site of Xanthos, which is across the road.

The nearest bus stop to the pretty mountain village of Bezirgan is on the Bezirgan Road. It’s a bit touch and go when the bus turns up.

Travel agents

Kalkan has a number of travel agents where you can book days out for reasonable rates. We recommend Define Tours as they have always proven good value and reliable. You can book private or multi passenger boat trips from these agents, or alternatively, simply wander along the harbour front and choose your own gullet.
